This was a whole new ballgame for me, sine I have never sewn anything for active wear or swimwear. So I started with looking up the style of bikini I wanted which was a bandeau. I found this pattern online which I used and worked out perfectly. http://www.sewmamasew.com/june2011/SwimSuitPattern2.pdf Since I don't have a serger to make it very sturdy, instead I used a zigzag stitch to make this "overlock stitch". So I made the bandeau top and it was a little see-through, so I could see the padding in the middle, so I decided to add lace to the top. Here are some pictures as the project went along. When it was finished I added a satin ribbon to cinch the center. So here is how they ended up:
